FilMYng Movies 2011 – starting up!

|21.09.2011|

The OSTRAVA-PICTURE film festival announces a competition for the best theme of a short film/documentary/experiment called FilMYng Movies!

Interesting technological equipment will be at the winner´s disposal as well as a base in Ostrava (accommodation, food, production expenses), patronage of the QQ studio and the Czech Television and the supervision of a documentarist – Tereza Tara. The winner will bring his or her own staff to Ostrava, attend technical and dramatic workshops in order to make the theme into a movie that will be aired during Ostrava-Picture 2011. The maximum number of members of the staff (including actors) is five. We don´t count local volunteers and extras in (as they aren´t entitled to accommodation and other benefits).

The theme you send in shouldn´t exceed the possibilities of a five-day filming – speaking both about length and the number of actors and locations. Apart from other aspects, to become the winner you´ll have to stick to the old: The more realistic, the better.

The competition is intended for beginner and amateur filmmakers who, apart from creativity and cinematography excitement, have the will to actually shoot their own movie. The Polish team will face the same challenge as a part of the ZOOM festival in Jelení Hora (but not until February 2012); the movies will reciprocally be presented at the partner festivals. So don´t sit at home, film YOUR movie!!!!

Your themes together with a few words about yourselves (who are you, how many people are you, what equipment will you need, what is your experience) must be sent until October 21st, 2011 to our email address: festival@ostrava-picture.cz

There will be a Canon 60D kit, Zacuto Double barrel with compendium and a Manfrotto tripod at your disposal – the rest will be provided by the organisers. The equipment will be lent for free and will be insured and the staff will learn about its handling from experts.

Awards ceremony!

Klub Atlantik was coming apart at the seams on Saturday, 17:00... It has become a nice tradition that a majority of the movie makers take part in the awards ceremony and the dicussion with our jury and manage to make their way to Ostrava from remote parts of the country or even from Poland and Slovakia. This year’s ceremony wasn’t an exception to the rule.

TV spot again from Martin Jůza

This year´s spot reminds us that the time behind a camera runs at the same pace as anywhere else... and school, gals, dudes, temporary part-time jobs or friendly helping out often distract from intensive creation. You´ll probably never catch up what you´ve missed when you were hot for the lens and ideas were dancing around... Or maybe? Don´t despair, grab the camera and head out as the dead line of the competition isn´t until the 9th of October!
