We have our winner of the competition in the best theme of a short film which will be recorded in Ostrava within a five-day workshop. The winner is Jolana Chalupová (24) from Blansko who´s first contact with filming was a week-long filming school KLAP! that took place this summer. She became the director of the film and set up a team of friends who will try to bring her idea to life. The whole gang arrived in Ostrava in the morning, were accommodated in a hotel and started the work preparations under the supervision of Tereza Tara and the filmmakers from QQ Studio Ostrava.

Tereza Tara (documentarist, FAMU graduate) seems as if she were on a nice walk outside but… appearances are deceptive! On her mind there is already a lot of tasks that will soon surprise her colleagues. „There weather is excellent. Cameras on your shoulders and let´s go make some practice shots before we head out to find attractive locations.”

The cameraman, Vojta Hrubý (21) from Miroslav, is getting familiar with the new equipment that fits comfortably into his hands. Not long ago he took part in the Brněnská šestnáctka 2010 film festival but at that time he had no idea that his shooting experience would be enriched by the post-industrial shots of Ostrava. The camera is rolling and the fuss begans.

After the debates and the first work decisions like WHERE, WHAT, WITH WHOM, HOW, WHAT THEN are made, others are getting clearer…you know it yourself. Different eye, different view.

Well, and at the table in the pub that we have booked for the whole staff together with enough power supplies, everything is being discussed for the second, third and fourth time…? The editor, Pavel Drábek (18) from Kateřinice (and still a student of a secondary school in Vsetín), ends everything with a sharp gesture to finally call the waitress to their table. A lot of things have been decided; where to buy the props, which equipment to use and what to shoot each day…that should do it for the first day. All of them now deserve to get to know Ostrava from a more pleasant side. Into the night we go! Yeah, and don´t leave the camera here so that we have stuff to write about even tomorrow :)

Awards ceremony!

Klub Atlantik was coming apart at the seams on Saturday, 17:00... It has become a nice tradition that a majority of the movie makers take part in the awards ceremony and the dicussion with our jury and manage to make their way to Ostrava from remote parts of the country or even from Poland and Slovakia. This year’s ceremony wasn’t an exception to the rule.

TV spot again from Martin Jůza

This year´s spot reminds us that the time behind a camera runs at the same pace as anywhere else... and school, gals, dudes, temporary part-time jobs or friendly helping out often distract from intensive creation. You´ll probably never catch up what you´ve missed when you were hot for the lens and ideas were dancing around... Or maybe? Don´t despair, grab the camera and head out as the dead line of the competition isn´t until the 9th of October!
